Broncos win consolation final, Thibeaux named 2nd team All-Star

On Saturday afternoon at SAIT, the Olds College Broncos defeated the NAIT Ooks 78-54 in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Basketball Championship Consolation Final.

Broncos All-Conference forward Brittney Thibeaux went off for yet another double-double, scoring 33 points and adding 21 rebounds in the victory while teammate Kristina Bajovic added 15 points to lead the Broncos to victory. Sydney Hurlburt responded with 15 points and six rebounds in a losing effort for the Ooks.

The Broncos dominated the first frame, specifically on the defensive end of the court, allowing only 11 points to the Ooks. Meanwhile the Thibeaux led Broncos put up 21 and would sustain their momentum throughout the duration of the game.

Thibeaux was named the Earl's Kitchen and Bar Player of the Game for Olds College. Kika Greenlee was named NAIT's Player of the Game. The two were also named as Second Team Tournament All-Stars, earning a prize pack from Big Chief Beef Jerky.

 The win gave the Broncos a 2-1 record at the championship, finishing in 5th place, and first out of the consolation side.
