Brittney Thibeaux named to ACAC First All-Conference Team

On Wednesday evening at the ACAC women's basketball awards banquet held at SAIT in Calgary, Brittney Thibeaux was named to the Southern All-Conference Team.

Thibeaux recieves the honour after a record setting season, scoring 205 2-point field goals to break the previous record of 199 set in 2008-09. Thibeaux also tied the ACAC record for blocks with 46.

Not only did Thibeaux lead the conference in many statistical catagories, including points, points per game, shooting percentage, and blocks, the race in each catagory was never competitive.

Out of the nine players with over 300 field goal attempts on the season, Thibeaux was the only athlete to shoot above 50%, finishing the season with a 62% field goal percentage (206/332). Thibeaux claimed the scoring title with 531 points, finishing 150 points up on the runner up. Thibeaux also scored more points per game than any player in the ACAC, averaging 25 PPG, eight points (or 32%) more points than the player with the second most points per game.

Thibeaux also finished the season second in rebounding with 260 boards, just 24 shy of rebounding leader Kennedy Werre.
