Women's Volleyball introduces recruit Shae Boyes

The Olds College Broncos are excited to introduce the first recruit for the 2018-19 season, Shae Boyes from Rimbey, Alta.

Broncos head coach Landon Thompson expects the 5'7 lefty to be an offensive force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future.

"We've had our eye on Shae for a couple years now. She's a proven winner, a born leader, a fierce competitor, and thrives in the moment," says Thompson. "On top of all that she's a lefty on the left side with a dynamite jump spin serve. She's gonna cause problems for our opponents for years to come."

Boyes has two provincial silver medals to her name to go along with a silver at the national championship. Boyes has also won two banners, winning both league and zone championships.

Boyes is dedicated to the gym, and her determination and athletic prowess has led to multiple high-school awards as a top athlete.

On the volleyball court Boyes is known for her strong spin serve, and how deceptive she can be on offense as a left handed hitter with good vertical.

"Olds College has treated me like family since day one," says Boyes. "I felt comfortable with both the team and the campus. I like Landon's ideals and the atmosphere he's created."

Boyes plays her club ball with Sylvan Lake and will be graduating from Rimbey High School this spring.
