Former All American Signs with Broncos Women’s Basketball Squad

The Olds College Broncos Women’s Basketball team is pleased to announce their first new recruit signing for the 2017-18 season.  Brittney Thibeaux of Lake Villa, Illinois is six feet tall and plays a strong game in the more physical areas of the court. Brittney is a major addition to the Broncos team and will add a dimension to the squad that the team has been searching for.

Brittney was a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 1 All-American while playing for the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) Wildcats. Brittney was also was recognized as a Mon-Dak Conference (MDC) First Team and Player of the Year, and Region X111 First Team All Star.

“Brittney is a dominating player in the paint,” describes NDSCS Head Coach Thomas Dryburgh, “she has a great attitude and work ethic.”

‟Bringing Brittney on board was all the work of Associate Coach Peter Sambu,” credits Broncos Head Coach Avery Harrison. “Without (Peter), we would not have been able to sign her. He has been working tirelessly to put together a strong line up for the coming season, and Brittney will definitely be the corner stone of the program moving forward ˮ.

Brittney is excited to join the Broncos for the upcoming season.

‟Taking an entire year off from basketball and school changes your mentality,” she explains. “My outlook changed for the better. I've never been so focused and ready to get to work in my life. School and basketball, I'm ready to strive for success in bothˮ.

That is precisely the attitude Broncos coaches want to hear.

‟We have been telling perspective players that if they are not serious about school, maybe they should go somewhere else,” said Harrison. We believe success in the classroom carries over to success on the court, and we want both ˮ.

Thibeaux will be in the Business program in the Fall.

For newly signed Head Coach Avery Harrison this is the first of a few announcements the team hopes to make.
