The Olds College Broncos women's hockey team won 4-3 against the NAIT Ooks at the "Country and Western" game on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Olds Sportsplex.
The first period started with a Broncos penalty that sent Kassy Gaudette to the box for tripping at 14:15, putting the NAIT Ooks into a power play. In the power play we saw lots of action at the Broncos net but goaltender Lexi Bruce held strong leaving the score 0-0. NAIT penalty went to Julia Wing at 19:08 for interference.
Shots in the first period were 7-6 for the NAIT Ooks.
The Ooks finished their penalty from the first period shortly into the second. Broncos first goal of the night was scored by Bree Edwards and assisted by Payton Bowen at 3:47. Broncos penalty called at 8:07 awarded to Fiona Milligan for interference. Coincidental penalties were given to Olds College Broncos player Brekell Otto for cross checking and NAIT's Michaella Kibblewhite for interference both at 9:45. NAIT's first goal scored at 11:13 by Brooklyn Colborn and assisted by Mindus and Creyke. NAIT penalty for Myah Mindus at 11:23 for body checking and NAIT's second goal was scored by number 17, Britney Savard with assists by Martin and Kibblewhite at 18:14.
Shots in the second period were 5-4 for the Broncos making the total shots at the end of the second period 11-11.
The third period started with a NAIT penalty for head contact at 7:23 for Treasure Posch. Broncos second goal of the night was scored on the power play by number 12, Jessie Jack assisted by Mairyn Tucker and Shauna Johnson at 8:59. NAIT's third goal was scored by Rebecca Roszell with assists by Bre Martin and Michaella Kibblewhite at 12:18. Broncos goal scored by Maddy Black assisted by Milligan and Cummings at 19:06. The Broncos tied up the game within the last minute of the third period, sending the game into overtime.
Shots in the third period were 6-12 for the Broncos making the total shots at the end of the third 17-23.
Overtime goal scored by the Broncos number 14, Mairyn Tucker unassisted in a breakaway at 1:01. Broncos defeat the NAIT in overtime with a score of 4-3.
Shots in overtime was 1-0 for the Broncos with total shots for the night being 18-23.
Player of the Game for the NAIT Ooks was number 18, Bre Martin and the Pit Barbecue Player of the Game for the Olds College Broncos was number 14, Mairyn Tucker.
The first period was fast and quiet with two penalties total and after twenty minutes of play the score stayed tied at 0-0. There was lots of action in the second period, including Broncos goal scored by Bree Edwards and both of the Ooks goals. The third period saw the NAIT Ooks score at 12:18 taking the lead 3-2. Broncos battled back to score in the last minute of play in the third period tying the game which sent it into the first overtime period. Broncos ultimately came out on top with a great breakaway goal scored by the player of the game Mairyn Tucker.
