Broncos women’s volleyball adds Saskatchewan talent

The Olds College Broncos women's volleyball coaching staff has been busy over the winter and spring months with recruitment as the program has seen quite a bit of turnover including graduating leaders Shaelynne Roux and team captain Victoria Ringuette. The coaching staff have signed 10 new recruits for this upcoming season to join seven returning players.

In part two of the introduction to the recruiting class we introduce you to two recruits from Saskatchewan.

Here's what you need to know about these recruits:


Emily Zaleschuk: Right side, 5' 8"

Hometown: Wakaw, SK

High School: Wakaw School

2017/18 club: Jeff's Crestwear Volleyball Club

Academic Program: Animal Health Technology

Accolades and achievements: Won 3A in high school provincials and tier two gold and silver in club volleyball Sask Cup and Provincials, respectively. Competes in Ukrainian dancing and has won multiple medals. Got several academic awards, including most improved and best attendance. Placed third in regionals for badminton after winning districts. Received Ken Holinaty Senior Athlete of the Year award.

Why you are excited to be a Bronco: "There are new challenges that are going to be faced, new people and coaches to meet with and most importantly friends to be made along with the program that is offered."

Head Coach Ryan Marsden's analysis: "Highly competitive and humble volleyball player. Works hard and loves to win. Not only good at attacking the ball, but also receiving and defending it."


Janeen Pellatt: Middle, 6' 1"

Hometown: Yorkton, SK

High School: Sacred Heart High School (SHHS)

2017/18 club: Sask Stealth Volleyball Club

Previous clubs: Yorkton Force

Academic Program: Sports Management

Accolades and achievements: SHHS volleyball rookie of the year in 2015-16 and then MVP in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Division two, tier two gold at Nationals in 2018.

Why you are excited to be a Bronco: "The Broncos are part of a highly competitive league and will offer me the chance to grow as an athlete. I'm excited to push my limits with the help of new coaches and trainers. I am looking forward to becoming a part of and contributing to a skilled, dedicated, and hardworking team."

Head Coach Ryan Marsden's analysis: "Fantastic middle blocker that moves well to the outsides. Has very good court sense and is quick as a 6' 1" athlete! She has natural leadership skills and will step in and help the program immediately."
