Bio
Macky Singh has been the Head Coach Men’s and Women’s Soccer & Futsal since June 2014.
A Malaysian citizen coach, Singh moved to Canada from New Zealand in December 2007, to work for Soccer New Brunswick as their Regional Technical Director. While working for Soccer New Brunswick, Macky was hired as the Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer team at St. Thomas University for five years from 2009 - 2014. He led the STU Tommies to two consecutive ACAA Women’s Soccer Championship berths in 2012 and 2013, with 2012 being the first time in ten years. Macky coached two CCAA Academic All-Canadians, ten CCAA National All Scholar Award, one ACAA Rookie of the Year and twelve ACAA 1st Team and 2nd Team All-Conference student-athletes. Macky compiled a 17-5-35 record.
Prior to moving to Canada, Macky was the National Team Head Coach of the New Zealand Universities Women’s Soccer National Team from 1998 – 2005 and a second sting in 2006 – 2007. During his time as the National Team Head Coach, he led them to over 70 international matches, including three FISU World Universiade Summer Games in 2003, 2005 and 2007. In 2005, Macky led New Zealand its best ever finish, 9th place, with a memorable 2-0 victory over heavy weights Chinese Taipei.
In 2005 – 2006, Macky was hired as the National Technical Director Women’s Soccer and Senior Women’s National Team and U19 Women’s National Team Head Coach for Football Association of Malaysia.
Currently in his 4th season at Olds College, Macky has led the Broncos Women’s Soccer to two consecutive ACAC Women’s Soccer Championship qualifications in 2016 and 2017, with 2016 being the first ever in school history. He has coached one CCAA Women’s Soccer All Canadian, four CCAA National Scholar Awards and six ACAC All-Conference Team student-athletes.
As the Head Coach of the Broncos Men’s Soccer, the 2017 season has been very successful, finishing fourth during regular season, just missing out on a berth to the ACAC Men’s Soccer Championships. The Broncos Men’s Soccer success in 2017, led to Macky to being named the ACAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year. In the four seasons he has coached one CCAA Academic All Canadian, five CCAA National Scholar Awards and two ACAC All-Conference Team student athletes.
Macky holds a Canadian Soccer National B Coach License, New Zealand Football National Academy Coaching License, FIFA Futuro III Instructors Course and NCCP Competition Development (Level III). Macky has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Coaching and a Diploma in Sports Psychology.
