Broncos Women’s Basketball rode away with the win over MHC

Olds College Broncos worked hard as a team and won over the Medicine Hat Rattlers with a score of 76-70 on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Ralph Klein Centre.
The Olds College Broncos came out swinging tonight against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Jasmine Gardiner and Ratiana Dutka stepped up for the Rattlers in the first quarter scoring a combined 7 points. Alli Taylor, Mackenzie Hooson and Essie Pryer are the Broncos top scorers and their strong start for the Broncos saw them leading the Rattlers 17-9.
The Rattlers bite back in the second quarter scoring 22 points over the Broncos 14. Again Jasmine Gardiner was a strong offensive leader for the Rattlers with 8 points, 2 assists and 1 steal. It was a team effort for the Broncos in the second quarter but the ball wasn't making it through the hoop. Heading into the third quarter the Broncos and Rattlers were tied 31-31.
Medicine Hat had a stronger start to the third quarter while again the Broncos struggled to get the ball through the hoop. This quarter number 6, Kristie Johnstone stepped up scoring 6 points for the Rattlers.Naomi Rowe had a great quarter offensively while Hannah Graville helped out defensively. The Rattlers had the edge over the Broncos heading into the fourth quarter with a score of 50-48.
The final quarter was huge for Olds College. Ameila Furst scored 11 of the 28 points for the Broncos but it really was a team effort with all Broncos stepping up and playing strong together. Similarly the Rattlers Jasmine Gardiner scored 10 of their 20 points in the quarter. The Rattlers played hard but ultimately fell just short of the win against the Broncos.
The player of the game for Medicine Hat College was number 12, Jasmine Gardiner and the player of the game for the Broncos was number 15, Hannah Graville. Catch Broncos Women's Basketball next week as they take on the Ambrose Lions at home on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.
