Broncos let lead go and Ooks win

The NAIT Ooks won 5-3 to the Olds College Broncos on November 25, 2021 at the Olds Sportsplex for the Broncos Home opener.
The Broncos started strong in the first period with their first goal scored by Ireland Greenhough, unassisted at 9:07. The Broncos also put the Ooks into a power play as Hailey Hoogkamp was sent to the box at 15:46 for slashing. At the end of the period Broncos lead 1-0 with Cienna Kinghorn saving 11 shots on goal. Ooks goaltender had 6 shots on net with 5 saves.
In the second period the Broncos number 20, Maeve Van't Klooster was sent to the penalty box on a body contact call at 3:35. This gave the Ooks the power play and scored their first goal of the night. Nait's first goal was scored by number 35Maddy Rutz and was assisted by Cassidy Shandro and Wynona Creyke at 3:50. Shauna Johnson was sent to the box on a body contact call at 7:03. Olds College number 22, Sydney Jack scored the Broncos second goal at 13:24 assisted by Abby Webster. At the end of the second period Broncos led the Ooks 2-1.
The third period was action packed as the Broncos had 6 minutes in the penalty box and the Ooks with 4 minutes. The Ooks were able to capitalize on these opportunities by scoring back to back goals on the power play. Nait goals were scored by Cass Lyttle and Cassidy Shandro and assisted by Jordan McMillian and Hailey Cruickshank. The Broncos were able to tie the game back up at 16:15 with their third goal scored by Maeve van't Klooster and assisted by Keera Tiringer and Ali Macaulay. Ooks scored to take the lead 4-3 at 18:17 scored by Brittney Savard. Olds pulled their goalie at 18:34 and Ooks were able to score their last goal on an empty net at 19:59.
The player of the game for the NAIT Ooks was number 27 Cassidy Shandro and the player of the game for the Olds College Broncos was number 31 Cienna Kinghorn.
Olds College Broncos will be back at the Olds Sportsplex again on Thursday, January 13, 2021 as they take on the SAIT Trojans.
