On Saturday afternoon in Olds, the SAIT Trojans (7-1-0) improved their record to 7-1, taking down the Olds College Broncos, (5-2-1) 4-0 at Normie Kwong Field.
Skye Gordon and Emily Fedoriak each scored in the contest for the visiting Trojans, while Mataya Blakney scored the first two goals of the contest.
Blakney opened the scoring just five minutes into the game. Off of a corner kick, Blakney was able to rise up above the Broncos and headed the ball in for the first marker of the game. Just eight minutes later Blakney struck again. Breaking in on the left side of the box, Blakney was able to find some open field space and launched her second of the game.
Skye Gordon would add an insurance marker for the visitors before the end of the first half. From far out, Gordon caught Broncos' keeper Auslin McDaniel-Perrin flat footed, and a roller tricked the Broncos keeper to give the Trojans a three goal lead.
Before all was said and done SAIT would add one more in the second half to take the contest 4-0 and retain the top spot in the South division.
The player of the game for the Trojans was Blakney with her two goals while the home team selected Emma Strydhorst.
Next weekend will wrap up regular season play in the ACAC, as the Broncos travel to Medicine Hat for a contest with the Rattlers Saturday at 2 P.M. while the Trojans visit Lethbridge at noon.
